Not getting the thing you want most is heart-breaking to say the least. Talking with a friend of mine about his recent let down reminded me of all the times I have been disappointed.
You put all of your eggs in that basket, your hopes, dreams, your heart…then the basket comes crashing down on your head. And just like that, now you have to clean up the mess of it all, your broken heart…your ego.
In the beginning all you can see is the future that is now no more. And hearing things like “It wasn’t meant to be” or “There is something better for you” all sting like alcohol on an open wound. It might be right, but you don’t want to hear it. It hurts too much.
Nevertheless after acceptance of the situation eventually comes some form of peace. Peace comes so much more quickly when you know you gave the situation 110% and leave the rest in God’s hands.
After this, things become somewhat more clear. We might even find a new purpose or find ourselves on a whole new road. Sometimes these detours and mishaps along our journey are necessary to get us where we need to be.
