Mom, Wife and Entepenuer – The Art of Balancing it All

Guest Blogger Samary Polnett

Life is so unexpected.  If you would have asked me 10 years ago that I would have my own business, and four boys, I would have told you, “YOU ARE CRAZY”!  I always knew I wanted to find my prince charming (which I did) and have a child or two, but 4, No Way!  So I am here, I am blessed and thankful for being able to juggle it all (some days!). Honestly, I love every aspect of being a wife and being able to build a life with my love.  I am not going to lie, it is hard work! There is a lot, I mean A LOT of comprising and being able to be each other’s partners in different areas of our lives.  Communication is key.  When we talk, I make it a point to be mindful of listening to his needs and being able to also communicate effectively my wants and needs.  As a mom, this has been the most important job that I have been able to do.  My boys are all amazing and oh so different.  There is no manual when it comes to parenting and it has been a work in progress. Some days I feel like the best mom EVER, while others I feel completely clueless.  I have learned to pick my battles.  I over communicate with my older boys and I am very directive with my ongoing conversation(s) with them.  Being an entrepreneur is no joke! You have to put in countless hours and no immediate reward. Blood, sweat and tears have gone into building my different businesses, and trust me, it’s not easy.  While I am not perfect at maneuvering all of my roles, I have learned a few things about juggling them all.  I have learned to be patient.  I have learned to dedicate more time to what’s important.  I have learned to be focused and organized or what I like to call organized chaos.  Time management is key and being able to know when to say “No” as well as taking breaks to enjoy it all.  We can get so consumed in one area of our lives that it makes everything else so challenging.  My advice, find a balance, some days your children and husband or significant other will need more care while others your business will need the more TLC.  Being a wife and a mom is such a blessing and adding on the business it’s truly amazing. Take the time to enjoy it all!
